I am a Napa Valley native who has made the commitment to create a painting a day of my surroundings – either landscapes or still lifes of fruits and flowers from my garden.
I hope you enjoy the work.
I had the good fortune of being raised in the Napa Valley. Coming from two generations of artists, art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Other than art classes in High School, I have not had any professional training – just a whole lot of trial and error. Some of my paintings are water-based oil on gessoed hardboard, but somewhere along the way I began experimenting with painting with gouache (opaque watercolor) on colored paper (mat board, actually). I liked the way the surface accepted the paint and the fact that I could add the light-colored highlights exactly where I wanted them.
Even though I’ve lived here my entire life (except for a 12-year, self-imposed exile to the Midwest), I continue to be “wowed” by my surroundings on a daily basis – there’s definitely no shortage of scenes waiting to be painted.
Cheers!
